Assistant Professor in East Asian History
Marietta College invites applications for a new tenure-track position in pre-modern East Asian History at the assistant professor level, to begin in August 2009. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Teaching responsibilities will include four courses per semester (three preparations), including World History survey, East Asian history survey, and additional courses in the candidate's areas of competence and interest; training in Chinese intellectual or religious history is preferred.
The college has a growing Asian Studies program, with particular strengths in China Studies. Currently, around 100 undergraduates and 15 graduate students are from the mainland, and the college has a significant number of students and faculty who participate in regular exchanges through cooperative agreements with institutions throughout China. The College offers Chinese language through the intermediate level and encourages study abroad.

Art Historian/ Gallery Director
The Department of Art at Marietta College invites applicants for a full-time, tenure track Art Historian/ Gallery Director position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2009. Marietta College is a small, private college with 1,400 students located in historic Marietta, Ohio.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching as well as organize an active exhibition schedule and an extensive permanent collection that includes African, Pre-Columbian, and Asian arts as well as prints. The Art History courses are an integral part of the Art Department curriculum with all levels of art history taught, including Art Survey, Modern, and Contemporary Art. An energetic and growing Art Department welcomes the opportunity to create a major or minor in Art History, based on the candidate's interest. Ph.D. preferred, and while the focus or expertise is open, the ability to offer courses in Asian art history would be a plus. Applicants must have gallery or museum management experience.

Assistant Professor in Graphic Design
The Art Department at Marietta College invites applicants for a full-time, tenure track faculty, Assistant Professor in Graphic Design for the fall of 2009. Qualifications for the position require an M.F.A. in Graphic Design or related field, college level teaching and professional design experience. Demonstrated experience in Web design, animation, time-based media or photography is highly desired.

Assistant Professor in Psychology
The Department of Psychology invites applications for a full time, tenure track position beginning fall of 2009. We seek to hire a gifted teacher who is prepared to teach statistics at the undergraduate and graduate level. Other area(s) of interest are open, but preference will be given to applicants with a background in cognitive psychology.
The Department offers a popular undergraduate major and a growing M.A. program in general psychology. In addition to undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, this individual will be expected to teach Research Methods, Introductory Psychology, and other courses in their areas of interest.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. by the start of the position, and demonstrate the willingness and ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate student research. Replacement Position, Political Science — Fall 2009
Marietta College has available a one-semester replacement position in American politics and institutions for the fall semester of 2009. Top priority is teaching experience. Assistant Professor in Biochemistry
The Department of Chemistry at Marietta College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in August 2009. A Ph.D. in biochemistry is required; additional expertise in another area of chemistry is desirable. This is a replacement position in a four-person ACS-approved department.

Cheerleading Coach
Marietta College seeks a part-time Cheerleading Coach. Duties include, but are not limited to: supervision of cheerleaders at all practices and home athletic events (football and men’s and women’s basketball); provide conditioning and training for the squad; conduct fundraising events to cover the purchases and competition travel; meet and/or communicate with prospective students and parents that have an interest in the program; arrange use of campus facilities for practices, performances or competition; make necessary travel arrangements to support away contests; and any other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Qualifications include: previous cheer coaching at the high school or college level; maturity necessary to conduct safety-oriented stunting program; excellent communication skills; ability to self-police in absence of national or regional governing body; NCSSE certification; AACA certification and certification in stunting.
